Last night I dreamt a monstrous dream…
I was just a boy
in October country
of northern Illinois
The sunset bled over farm
Precious fields of innocents
In the distance an atomic alarm
A queer blast of light
murdered dear sunset
in a shock of white
A hurricane of ash
drowned my world
A flesh burning rash
We sleep to forget the past
rotting seeds of nostalgia
For nothing will ever last
So goodbye dear October joy
I bid thee farewell
As I bury this forgotten boy
This is a really spectacular piece of work. It’s amazing how words can paint pictures, and yours painted a great big giant masterpiece!
